How to use this page
The tool shows the current GMT time and date, the Abbreviation (GMT, Greenwich Mean Time), the UTC offset (always +00:00) and the daylight saving status: GMT itself has no daylight saving time. Your time shows the time in your zone and how far ahead of or behind GMT you are.
To convert, enter a Time and a Date in GMT under Convert a time. The same moment elsewhere then lists that moment in UK time, Eastern Time, Pacific Time, Central European Time, India, the Gulf and Japan, plus your own zone.
GMT and British Summer Time
GMT is a fixed zone, but the UK is not. Clocks in the UK go forward at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday in March and back at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday in October. In 2026 BST runs from 29 March to 25 October; in 2027 from 28 March to 31 October. During that period, UK time means BST, one hour ahead of GMT. Ireland and Portugal follow the same pattern: UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer.
GMT, UTC and Zulu time
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the world’s time standard, kept by atomic clocks and adjusted with occasional leap seconds so it stays close to the Earth’s rotation. GMT matches UTC to within a second and is used as a time zone name. Pilots, sailors and the military call the same time Zulu time and write it with a Z, such as 0900Z.
