How to use this page
The tool shows the current time and date in New York, the Abbreviation in use now (EDT or EST, with its full name), the UTC offset, the Next change with the date the clocks move, and Your time with the difference from your zone.
To convert, enter a Time and a Date in Eastern Time under Convert a time. The same moment elsewhere lists that moment in Pacific, Mountain and Central Time, the UK, Central Europe, India and Japan, plus your own zone.
EDT and EST
Eastern Time follows the US and Canadian daylight saving rules. Clocks go forward from 2:00 EST to 3:00 EDT on the second Sunday in March, and back from 2:00 EDT to 1:00 EST on the first Sunday in November. When readers may not know the season, ET is the safe choice; writing EST in July is a common mistake.
